It's also the first mobile 15.6-inch mobile workstation to come with an optional 64GB SSD MiniCard (starting at $220) for more storage and better battery life. Speaking of which: the M4500 is listed as getting 7 hours and 40 minutes, which is a pretty impressive claim for such a hardcore machine.

Its target audience is distinctly professional: oil and gas, federal, medical, that sort of thing. On the plus side, that means Dell's packed the M4500 with government-level fingerprint security. On the down side? This thing's going to cost when it's finally available in the next few weeks.

That's the big unanswered question right now, though we'll know soon enough; they go on sale today in the US. If the pricing is in line with the V13, though, these could be worth a closer look. The Vostro 3300, 3400, 3500, and 3700 range from 13-inches to 17-inches, and all offer Core i3 and Core i5 processor options. For true juiceheads, the 17-inch Vostro 3700 even includes a Core i7 Quad Core option. Even better: a discrete graphics option. You can add an Nvidia Geforce 310M 512MB graphics card to the 3300-3500, while the 3700 has an optional Nvidia Geforce GT 330M 1GB card.

You even get an optical drive, a rarity these days on an SMB laptop, but something that I'm sure at least some people will be happy to see. You can also order the 3300 without, if you'd prefer to save yourself the extra quarter of a pound that the optical drive adds.

Other specs—including up to a 9 cell battery, 500GB hard drive, and 6GB memory—are in line with the Vostro's competitors. We'll just have to wait and see if the pricing is as well.

Of course, it's not really fifteen hours, since actual battery life is never anywhere close to listed. And the claim only applies to when the netbook is in "Eco" mode, which undoubtedly requires a significant performance trade-off. But even if the U160 can achieve 60% of its claim during normal usage, that's as impressive a netbook battery life as we've seen.

The $380 price tag also includes a 10-inch LED display (1024x600), the Pine Trail's standard 1GB RAM, and and Windows 7 Starter. But you'll have to make do with a 160GB HD and an island-style keyboard, which on a netbook doesn't leave a lot of room for error. But—especially if the battery life claim holds up—you could certainly do worse for more money.

Scheduled for a fall release, Portal 2 will be a full-fledged Portal experience distributed to the Mac, presumably, by an all-but-confirmed Steam service for that platform. [MacRumors]

All three of the monitors will use NVIDIA's GeForce 3D Vision glasses, with the first monitor launching being the 23-inch MG236, which has dual-link DVI connectivity so all that 3D video is played at full 1080p resolution. A 23.6-inch PG246 and 27-inch PG276 will also go on sale, but much later in the year apparently. HP's rolling out four new ProBook models, ranging from the 13.3-inch 4320s to the heavy-duty 17.3-inch 4720s. In addition to those speedy Arrandale processors and "caviar" and "bordeaux" aluminum finishes, the new line-up also features optional ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4350 discrete graphics (compared with the previous generation's Radeon 4330, HD LED-backlit displays, and an optional 2MP camera.

The ProBooks also feature DayStarter, a feature that lets you view your calendar to distract you while your computer loads, and ArcSoft TotalMedia Suite audio and video editing software. WIth an optional 9-cell battery, the battery life is listed at an impressive 10 hours.

You won't find any USB 3.0 here, and the price points—starting at $719 for the 13-inch base configuration—are good-not-great. But if you need a work notebook with a little flair, and a home notebook with a little kick, ProBook might be your answer for both. You'll have a chance to find out when they become available later this month. [HP]

The 12.1-inch WXGA (1280 x 800) LED display includes anti-glare and optional outdoor view, and can be operated with a pen, your finger, the keyboard, or some combination thereof. Under the hood, you've got your choice of Core i7 or Core i5 processors, but there's sadly no discrete graphics option.

You'll get up to five hours out of the standard six-cell battery, but can add on an HP 2700 ultra-slim battery for an additional six hours (listed). And the standard set-up weighs under four pounds—not bad for a tough guy convertible tablet. The HP EliteBook 2740p will be available in the US in April, starting at $1600.

The appearance is spot on, but the insides are decidedly sub-par. The Atom processor is a less powerful than the processor offered in the Vaio P, and the memory maxes out at 1GB. If you're comparing, that's a full GB short of the original.

Since this is a clone however, the price is really the only area where one could say it "competes" with Sony's premium-priced Vaio P.

The clone offers a 160GB for about $300, as well as a $380 model with 350GB storage, 2Gb ram and 3G.

The 10.1-inch touchscreen tablet portion, for example, struggles with basic tasks, touch recognition and responsiveness. The previewer rated the T101MT "poor" in these areas. Calibrating the device improved responsiveness slightly, but there were still areas of the screen, like the top, where the software struggled to keep up with the user's input.
