MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Betty Crocker has always been the trusted source for recipes, from cookbooks to BettyCrocker.com. Now there is a Betty Crocker Cookbook for the iPad™ mobile digital device, featuring 2,500 of the most popular Betty Crocker recipes, high-resolution recipe images and step-by-step cooking instructions. General Mills collaborated with the digital firm Schematic to create this new electronic version of the Betty Crocker cookbook. It’s available free at the iPad App Store.

“She wants her trusted recipes to be at everyone’s fingertips, available on every device, including iPhone and desktop apps, and now the iPad.”

The Betty Crocker Cookbook for the iPad device features a highly intuitive recipe search interface. Simply touch the screen to browse through recipes in more than 20 categories including appetizers, meats, breads, main dishes, cakes, condiments, desserts, salads and many others. Scroll through the recipes with your finger to find the perfect party snack or fresh ideas for family dinners. To help ensure recipe success, the cookbook features “cook mode,” simplified instructions in an easy-to-read format. After you select a recipe or two to prepare, display the recipe on the screen and start cooking.

Betty Crocker recipe photographs are even more beautiful on the tablet’s crisp, back-lit screen. Imagine the photo of Brownie Ganache Torte with Raspberries on the 9.7-inch screen. People who read cookbooks like novels will want to curl up on the couch with the lightweight iPad device to peruse recipes and mouth-watering recipe photos.

“Betty Crocker may be a historical icon, but she’s also very contemporary, totally embracing new technology,” says Mike Bettison, interactive marketing manager at General Mills. “She wants her trusted recipes to be at everyone’s fingertips, available on every device, including iPhone and desktop apps, and now the iPad.”
